Beef & Bean Chili with Buns
(Hands‑on cooking class, 6:00–8:00 pm)

Location: 1715 17 Ave SE – YW Community Hub
Cost: $10 per participant (registration is per person)
In this hearty, hands‑on class, participants will cook a rich and comforting beef and bean chili from scratch and bake soft dinner buns to enjoy together. This class focuses on practical kitchen skills while celebrating the joy of cooking and sharing a homemade meal with a friend.
Participants will learn:
- Safe vegetable chopping and prep
- One‑pot cooking and simmering techniques
- Flavour balancing and seasoning
- Basic yeast dough baking
Important registration note:
Although this class is called Cooking with a Friend, each participant must be registered individually. Participants are welcome to attend alongside a friend, but registration and pricing are per person.
Dietary note:
This class is not gluten‑free due to the buns, though the chili itself can easily be adapted to be gluten‑free.
All classes are led by Sydney Weipert, Jamie Gervais, and Sara Waqas, experienced instructors with strong backgrounds in culinary education and supporting individuals with Down syndrome.
