Ups & Downs is hosting a virtual conversation for adults (18+) with Down syndrome, facilitated by a volunteer from our community.
The purpose of this conversation is to listen to adult voices. We’ll be using a short set of plain‑language questions from the Canadian Down Syndrome Society (CDSS) about adult life, supports, work, independence, and what adults want others to better understand.
This is:
A supportive, respectful space
A chance to share as much or as little as you like
A conversation — not a presentation or class
There are no right or wrong answers. You can speak, listen, or share in whatever way feels comfortable to you.
This conversation may also help us explore more adult‑member‑led conversations or projects in the future, based on interest.
Format: Virtual (Microsoft Teams)
Who: Adults (18+) with Down syndrome
Registration required: Please register so we know who plans to attend. The Teams link will be emailed to registered participants before the session.
You may see these questions during the conversation. You don’t need to prepare answers, but you’re welcome to look them over ahead of time if that helps.
- What helps you succeed as an adult?
(Who supports you? What kinds of help make a difference?) - What has changed for you as you’ve gotten older?
(For example: independence, friendships, work, health, or support.) - What do you wish adults who do not have Down syndrome understood about you?
(What is something important you want leaders to hear?) - What is something that is hard for you that people without Down syndrome might not see or understand?
(At work, in the community, or in daily life.) - What would make working or volunteering easier for you?
(What would you like to see changed?)
You can skip any question if you want.
