Join us for a fun and interactive 4-week cooking class designed specifically for youth and adults with Down Syndrome! Each session focuses on building essential cooking skills in a supportive and engaging environment, while exploring new tastes.
Week 1: Breakfast – Mini Quiche with Mandarin Orange Salad
Students will learn basic kitchen safety, knife safety and skills, how to whisk and mix ingredients, and practice assembling individual mini quiches. They’ll also explore combining sweet and sour tastes to create salad dressing and a zesty go-to brunch salad.

Week 2: Lunch – Chicken Tortilla Soup with Quesadillas
This week focuses on measuring ingredients, following a recipe step-by-step, and using simple stovetop cooking techniques. Students will also practice assembling and grilling quesadillas, while playing with spice tolerance.

Week 3: Dinner – Beef Shawarma with Hummus and Rice Pilaf
Participants will explore seasoning and marinating techniques to create flavorful shawarma. They’ll also learn how to plate dishes beautifully with creamy hummus and level up rice with nutrition packed ingredients.

Week 4: Dessert – No-Bake Cheesecake with Strawberry Coulis
In the final class, children will develop skills in mixing and layering while creating no-bake cheesecake. They’ll also learn to make a simple strawberry coulis to drizzle on top, adding a touch of elegance to their dessert.
